About Me
I’m always so proud to say, “I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii”. It seems exotic and unusual to people. The first thing people usually say in response is “Why the hell did your family move from there to Rochester, NY?!!!” When my mom found out she was pregnant with me, she was living in California and my dad was attending the University of Hawaii. She joined him there, were married, and 7 months later I was born. I learned to walk on the beach, and was recently reminded that I played with Nicole Kidman before her family moved back to Australia! My dad then transferred to the University of Rochester, where I spent my early years.
After attending St. Bonaventure University I moved to the Big Apple to pursue my dream career in advertising, working on Madison Avenue and in SoHo. After 16 years in the agency world, I transitioned to “client side” and have now been in healthcare marketing for almost 20 years. But that’s just how I spend my energy in exchange for money—which supports my real life.
I am a yogi, continuously learning about this ancient practice of living. I volunteer teach yoga asanas to share my practice with community. I am a gardener, who loves to dig my hands into the dirt and watch vegetables and flowers grow from nothing into magnificent creations. I am a lover of nature, finding my stillness and peace among the trees. I am a world traveler who is energized by new cultures, people and experiences. I am a writer, who is slowly transferring my corporate writing skills into poetry and essays that expose my soul. I am a lover of live music and consider it to be therapeutic. My husband John and I have gone to more concerts than I could possibly list. We currently live in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina where we love to explore, eat great food, experience music, and have found a community filled with love, support and friendship.
